EFFECT OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF N, P AND K ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF PEAR CV. RED BARTLETT

The studies were carried out on fifteen years old pear cv. Red Bartlett grafted on wild pear (Pyrus pashia L) rootstock planted at a distance of 6x6 m at Regional Horticultural Research Station, Bajaura, Kullu during 1998-2002. The treatments consisted of six levels of N (400, 500, 600, 700, 800, and 900 g N/tree), P_2 O_5 (200, 250, 300, 350, 400 and 450 g/tree) and K_2O (400, 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 g/tree). The maximum trunk girth, shoot length and fruit yield was recorded with the applicationof 700 g nitrogen/tree, 350 g phosphorus/tree and 700 g potassium/tree. The minimum trunk girth, shoot length and fruit yield was recorded with the lowest levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The maximum fruit weight was recorded with 700 g nitrogen, 300g phosphorus and 600 g potassium/tree. Other quality traits were not influenced by different levels of N, P and K.
