Chilli is a popular vegetable crop valued around the world for its colour, flavour, spice and nutritional value. In Punjab, chilli is mainly cultivated in the districtsof Malwa region like Sangrur, Patiala, Bathinda and sorr pockets around Shahkot and Nakodar. It is being grow over an area of 6,820 ha in the state with an annu production of 11,780 tonnes. Its cultivation is gainin popularity among farmers due to the introduction of chi hybrids like CH-1 and CH-3. Many growers are producin seeds of these hybrids in the state. Raising chilli nursei is also giving good economic returns to the growers.
