Spray technology for the application of insecticides

Insects are the most dominant group of organisms on the earth and losses caused by these insect pests have increased tremendously. However, the greatest challenge is to reduce the losses caused by these insect pests to obtain food and environmental security on sustainable basis. For proper management of insect-pests and to reduce environmental pollution, the judicious use of right type of insecticide, dosage, time and method of application plays a significant role. As the insecticides are quite useful to reduce the insect pest population but on the other hand, non-judicious use of the insecticides may lead to numerous problems. So, selection of the insecticides and its use should be as per the recommendations. Quantity of insecticides and water should also be adequate as per guidance of experts. Also, use of the insecticides should be based on economic threshold level. Effective use of insecticides also depends upon the spray pattern of the insecticides. Before concentrating on spray patterns, we must have proper knowledge of pesticide application equipments. Normally, two types of sprayers are used for insecticide application- pneumatic sprayers and hydraulic sprayers.
