Maintaing freshness and quality of Kinnow fruits after harvest

Since Kinnow is harvested when fully ripe, tender care during all the handling operations is needed to maintain its quality. All necessary precautions must be taken to prevent injuries on the fruits while picking and packing. Proper care of Kinnow fruits during harvesting and post-harvesting can ensure better quality of fruits. Kinnow is an important fruit crop of Punjab and is cultivated over an area of 44,724 hectares with their annual production of 9,00,491 million tones. Tremendous loss in yieldand fruit quality has been observed by careless handling of the fruits, especially during post-harvest operations. Proper care of Kinnow fruits during harvesting and post-harvesting can ensure better quality of fruits.
