You also become susceptible to heart disease and blood pressure because of the salt and high fats found in this food. Food is one of the basic needs of human being, and is important for growth and development. With the change in time, the change in food variety, availability and taste has been witnessed. Our young generation prefers to take junk food over the home cooked food. As a consequence approximately 20 percent of school going children and nearly 60 percent of adults in India are obese. Junk food is also known as fast food (such as burgers, pizzas, french fries, hot dogs, cold drinks etc.) thatare quick, reasonably priced and readily available alternatives to the home cooked food. While convenient for a busy life style and inexpensive, fast foods are typically high in calories, fats, saturated fat, sugar and salt. Besides, these types of food have little or no nutritional value and are therefore considered unhealthy to consume.
