Important guidelines for maize cultivation during kharif season

In this article the experts share useful scientific tips including improved varieties of different maturity groups, plant production and plant protection so as to enable farmers to grow maize crop successfully and profitably. Maize (lea mays L) is versatile crop grown in more than 160 countries of the world. In India, maize is the third most important cereal after rice and wheat that provides food, feed, fodder, and serves as a source of raw material for developing hundreds of industrial products viz., starch, protein, oil, alcoholic beverages, food sweeteners, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, bio-fuel, etc. It accounts 15 to 56% of the total daily calories of people in many of the developing countries.
