Fruit plants like mango, litchi, citrus, papaya etc. are damaged by hot weather. High temperature causes physical injuries like sunburn and sunscakl. The climate of Punjab being subtropical, the maximum day temperature during May-June sometimes exceeds to 45°C. The humidity is also very low during these months. The young fruit plants are very susceptible to high temperature and need special protection against the hot and scorching weather. The tolerance of the fruit plants to withstand high temperature varies greatly with species. The fruit plants like mango, litchi, citrus, papaya etc. are more liable to damage from hot weather as compared with others.High temperature during growing period causes physical injuries like sunburn and sunscald.
