PAU at the door step of farmers

PAU provides a. platform to various agencies for the scientist-farmer interaction to overcome field problems. GREEN revolution during the mid-sixties, boosted agricultural production in Punjab beyond expectation. Punjab occupies only 1.53 per cent area of the country but it contributes 12.5 per cent of total food grain output. Notable contributions towards national kitty of food grains was in the form of wheat (60 per cent) and rice (40 percent) due to which the state has earned the name of "Food basket of India". Besides, the State also excels in the production of fish, milk, mushroom and honey etc.
