Krishi vgyan kendras: role models for farmers

Seventeen KVKs in Punjab impart new farm knowledge to the farmers. The technology week is celebrated at all the KVKs in which various activities are organized for the benefit of farmers, farm women, students and extension functionaries. There are 17 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), that impart vocational and short duration trainings to the farmers, farm women and refresher trainings to the extension functionaries of the State Development Departments. The front-line demonstrations are conducted by KVKs to provide first-hand information to the extension staff and farmers. To solve the location specific problems, KVK conducted the on-farm trials .Every KVK conduct 100-110 trainings, 100 front-line/method demonstrations and 24 on-farm trials every year. Every KVK has instructional farm of 10 ha used for conducting method demonstrations and to produce quality seeds. Besides, every KVK farm has Technology Park wherein diversification options, low cost production technologies and rational use of resource are demonstrated.
