Under late sown conditions short duration varieties like PBW 590, PBW-373 and PBW-509 should be sown except in submontaneous regions. Apply 40 kg urea and 24 kg P205 (155 kg single super-phosphate) per acre at sowing. If single superphosphate is not available, use 50 kg DAP and reduce the dose of urea by 20 kg/acre. For the control of loose smut and flag smut of wheat, treat the seed in seed treating drum with Raxit @ 1 g/kg seed or Bavistin/Agrozim/Derosal/ J.K. Stein/Sten 50 @ 2.5 g/kg or with Vitavax @ 2 g/kg seed.
