The spectacular paradigm of Indian food production through green revolution has further shown their ill effects and given rise to the second generation problems viz., rising/towering of water table, soil degradation, resurgence of pests and diseases,environmental pollution, decline in factor productivity, salinity, nutrient imbalances, etc. Crop diversification may alleviate these problems through fulfilling the basic needs and regulating the farm income, controlling price fluctuation, ensuring balanced food supply, conserving natural resources, reducing chemical fertilizer loads and creating employment opportunities.
