摘要

Using chemical fertilizers in combination with organic manures is better. The benefits of this practice include increase in organic matter content, available plant nutrients and improvement in the physical, chemical and biological properties of soil.IN order to rejuvenate the soil fertility, integrated nutrient management (INM) approach - using chemical fertilizers in combination with organic manures seems promising. The benefits accrued from this approach include increase in organic matter content,available plant nutrients and improvement in the physical, chemical and biological properties of soil as well as economzing the use of chemical fertilizer. In Punjab, the availability of on-farm and in-situ options of manures substantiate the INM concept because after wheat harvesting green manures can be grown successfully and incorporated into the soil on attaining the age of 45-50 days. Likewise, availability of farmyard manure though to limited extent can be exploited.
