Grow soybean on raised beds

摘要

SOYBEAN is a high value crop with multiple food, feed and industrial uses. Edible oil, soymilkand its products, antibiotics and fresh green beans are some of its varied uses. It can play an important role, in crop diversification in the state and forsustaining the natural water resource, which is continuously falling on an average rate of 0.50 m/year in most parts of the state. At present, this crop is cultivated by conventional flat method of sowing with flood system of irrigation. This practice leads to several problems such as excessive downward leaching of plant nutrients, poor aeration and high impedance of soil for growing plant roots. Soybean being a crop of monsoon season, its sowing time quite often coincides with the pre-monsoon showers,which badly affects its germination owing to either seed decay or soil crusting under conventional planting conditions.
