Farm mechanization for diversification of kharif crops

摘要

PAU has developed few machines like multi-crop planter for maize, cotton and groundnut, axial flow threshers for unhusked maize, sunflower, paddy (basmati) and groundnut etc. which can assist farmers in crop diversification programmes. PUNJAB is the leading agricultural state in country and farm mechanization has played a pivotal role in this process. However, this has also created natural imbalances by depleting water and soil health. Environmental pollution is another very important aspect which the Punjabis have to face due to burning of paddy straw. It is estimated that most of the pumping sets in the state of Punjab will go dry by the year 2010.
