Summer moong and mash are two pulse crops which are suitable as third crop after wheat harvesting and before paddy. The seed production of these crops is relatively easy because they are highly self-plolinated. A seed producer must understand difference between seed and an ordinary marketable grain. The important seed quality parameters include genetic purity, physical purity, 'germination potential, moisture content, vigour, pests and disease infection. In addition, good quality seed should be of uniform size, having good luster and must conform to the prescribed standards for these parameters. Therefore, it is very important that farmers should realize the importance of quality seed and make efforts to produce quality seed at his own farm.
