For having good production, the quality and quantity of seed is very important. It should be purchased from a reliable source. The seed purchased from unreliable source may have seed of unwanted fishes. To have more fish production the care should betaken even before the excavation of pond. Following management practices should be taken into care to have more fish production. Nursery pond : Excavate one nursery pond (1/10th of production pond) alongwith production pond, which will help to adopt thestrategies of partial harvesting and restocking i.e. extra seed (of same species and number) stocked in nursery pond can be restocked in production pond after the harvest of marketable fish. This will increase the total yield per unit area. Further theseed reared in nurseries (stuntened growth) grows faster when restocked in production ponds.
