Calfhood is very critical period in dairy cattle because negligence during this period is reflected by a mortality rate of 30-35 percent in many dairy farms. Calves are the base of a successful dairy farm. To maintain a good efficiency of production,herd should be replaced about 20 per cent every year with own farm grown heifers. The sale of heifers is also a good source of income in dairy business.
