Control of insect pests in rice

Rice stemborers, leaffolder, planthoppers, rice hispa and rice ear-cutting caterpillar are important insects pests in rice. Judicious use of insecticides is must to control them. RICE crop is attacked by a number of insect pests but important ones arethe rice stemborers, leaffolder, planthoppers, rice hispa and rice ear-cutting caterpillar. The others include grasshoppers and rice rootweevil. Brief information on the life history, nature of damage and management of these insect pests is discussed here. To obtain high grain yield of good quality, it is important to manage the insect pest attack through the judicious use of insecticides.
