Status of food processing industry in India

The growth rate of food production being faster than population growth has led to development in agro industry particularly Food industry in India through the successive five year plans. Processed foods have slowly won the hearts of consumers in the meant years and the production is increasing but still not sufficient to meet the demands of people. Processed foods refer to the food commodity subjected to some processing operations such as milling refining, cooking, heating, cooling, dipping in solution etc. Or value addition The food industry has to dedicate itself from raw material selection, mode of preparation, process to be adopted, packaging system to he used, the quality control of raw material, final product as well whole operations involvedto meet the local and international standards.
