Major stored grain insect pests and their management

Insects are known to cause 10-15% damage in storage. Direct feeding damage by insects reduces grain weight, nutritional value and germination. For management of stored grains insect pests, there is need of proper grain handling and regular grain inspection to reduce the damage. Managing grains in storage to prevent insect damage is just as important, or more so, than managing the crop while it is growing in the field insects are known to cause 10-15% damage in storage.
