Weed Management in Spring Planted Sugarcane

SUGARCANE being a widely spaced, long duration crop, faces severe problem of wide variety of both annual grasses and broad leave weeds. The severe competition from these weeds may reduce the cane yield. Depending upon weed species, weed intensity andcrop growth stages, 8-70 per cent reduction in cane yield is quite common. It is recognised that to obtain higher yield from sugarcane, the field should be kept free from weeds upto 90 days after planting.
