The major paper-using or paper-producing countries of the world can be placed in three broad categories, namely: Those which are self-supporting, with a small percentage of exports and a small percentage of imports (USA, Japan, China and South Korea); Those which import significantly more than they export (European Union excluding Sweden, Finland and Austria); and Those which export much more than they import (Canada, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Norway).
