摘要

A valuable discovery in screen printing came from William Henry Fox (1800-1877), the English pioneer in photography. This relates to the production os screens by the photochemical method. Talbot had found that when gelatine was mixed with chromium salts and exposed to light for sufficient length of time, it was converted to chrome gelatine, a horne-like insoluble substance. In due course this observation was applied to the manufacture of screen printing stencils. The finest task of the colourist is to translate an artist's colouraful and exquisite designs and imbue them with vibrant life on the printed fabric. Screen printing offers wide scope in this respect.
