Further reduction in sales tax on sugarcane molasses needed in TN: TDC chief

Mr. V.T.Somasundaram, Managing Director, Trichy Distilleries and Chemicals (TDC) Limited, is spearheading the company with the ultimate goal of making TDC an integrated chemical complex, the dream of his father the late Mr. Thyagaraja Mudaliar. On the eve of Tamilnadu State Government Budget 2002-2003, which boldly reduced sales tax on molasses facilitating downstream industries, Mr.Somasundaram dwelt on status of the sugar, molasses, alcohol and alcohol-based chemicals industry in Tamilnadu, in an exclusive interview with Chemical Weekly.
