Effect of protection level and nitrogen fertilization on yielding and health of three spring barley cultivars.

In an experiment conducted in Poland during 2001-03, the effects of crop protection level (basic or intensive) and N fertilizer rate (40, 80 or 120 kg/ha) on the performance of 3 cultivars of spring barley (Beryl, Refren and Rastik) were studied. Infection by fungi (Pyrenophora teres and Erysiphe graminis) and lodging were evaluated using a 9-degree scale. The intensive protection system restricted infection by fungal pathogens.
