Protection methods of the Chinese cabbage against cabbage root fly (Delia radicum L.) in autumn cultivation.

Serious damages caused by the third generation of cabbage root fly (D. radicum) were found in the last years on Chinese cabbage in autumn cultivation. The observations were carried out at the Research Institute of Vegetable Crops in Skierniewice and Powiercie near Koo (Poland) in 2000-02 on fields with Chinese cabbage. The cabbage was protected against D. radicum with 2 methods: using fipronil (500 FS) as a seed dressing and imidacloprid (200 SL) as a drench before planting the seedlings to the field. The insecticide containing carbosulfan (250 DS) was used as the standard. Both methods of Chinese cabbage protection showed good efficacy against the cabbage root fly larvae..
