Influence of foliar application of fungicides on health and yield of winter wheat.

Field experiments were conducted in 2006-08 at the Brody Experimental Station in Poland to evaluate the influence of foliar fungicides on the occurrence of fungal diseases on the leaves and ears of winter wheat. The dominant pathogens identified on winter wheat plants were: Mycosphaerella graminicola, Pyrenophora tritici-repentis, Puccinia recondita subsp. tritici [P. hordei] and Blumeria graminis [Erysiphe graminis] on leaves and Phaeosphaeria nodorum and Fusarium spp. on ears. Intensified foliar protection with fungicides significantly reduced leaf and ear infestation by the above mentioned pathogens, in comparison with the control object without foliar fungicidal treatment.
