Phytophthora cryptogea menance to plants in Poland.

Pathogenicity of nine isolates of Phytophthora cryptogea from different host plants was tested. In the laboratory trials all cultures colonised Sempervivum arachnoideum leaves with the fastest spread of necrosis on plant tissues inoculated with P. cryptogea from Aquilegia discolor and S. arachnoideum. The reaction of Alstroemeria x hybrida and Forsythia intermedia on tested pathogens was more differentiated. The isolates from Gerbera jamesonii and Saxifraga arendsii did not colonize stem parts of alstroemeria cv. Rebecca. Cultures from Anthurium andreanum and A. x hybrida were the most pathogenic. In the tests with F. intermedia the quickest spread of necrosis was observed on plant parts inoculated with P. cryptogea from Campanula persicifolia and F. intermedia.
