Perspectives of chestnut trees' protection on towns of Ukraine.

The most radical method of limiting the number of Cameraria ohridella Deschka & Dimic (1986) is planting resistant varieties of chestnut trees. At the present it is practically impossible in Ukraine. It is recommended to rake fallen leaves in urban conditions and composting them deep in soil. Of chemical methods the most effective is using insecticides in the form of solution or microemulsion. Excellent results were obtained when the preparations containing abamectine or imidacloprid active ingredients were used. Alternate using of these preparations for 4-5 vegetative periods assured a satisfactory protection of chestnut trees against C. ohridella. In case of lacking the possibilities of using the above methods, the number of C. ohridella can be limited by spraying trees with the suspension of insect growth regulators or inhibitors of chitin synthesis.
