Occurrence of leaf rollers (Cnephasia sp.) on cabbage.

Leaf rollers (Cnephasia sp.) were not observed on cabbage so far. Damage caused by leaf rollers was observed in field experiments conducted in Poland in which cabbage was grown in cover crop mulch. Larvae appeared in mid-June causing rolling of leaves parallel to the main vein. Leaf rollers were most numerous on cabbage plants growing in hairy vetch mulch. When leaf rollers finished feeding, damaged leaves unrolled and continued their growth. Heavy damage caused by leaf rollers was observed in 2005 and 2006. Slight damage caused by leaf rollers was observed in 2004, 2005 and 2008.
