Fungous diseases of some varieties of willow (Salix sp.).

The abundance of stem and leaf diseases was assessed on short rotation willow cultivars Tora and Gudrun in a plantation in Gorzen Dolny near Wadowice, Poland, in 2005-06. The dominant disease of shoots and leaf of short rotation willow cultivars Tora and Gudrun was spotting caused by Drepanopeziza spp. The cultivar Tora was most severely damaged by shoot and leaf diseases. Planting of genotype mixtures is a major strategy for the non-chemical control of willow diseases in short rotation coppice willows grown for biomass.
