Phyrophagous insects on Miscanthus giganteus (Miscanthus x giganteus L.).

Miscanthus giganteus is a large perennial grass reserve for energy production. Phytophagous insects occurring on M. giganteus were studied and damage incurred by these insects was evaluated in Pawowice near Wroclaw, Poland, during 2007-08. In both years, during the direct monitoring of plants, unimportant number of phytophagous insects was recorded. The most numerous were aphids, mainly bird cherry oat aphid (Rhopalosiphum padi) and thrips. Most often, the phytophagous insects fed on new planted plants.
