Analysis of advisability of Colorado potato beetle control in some farms of Opole district.

Field observations on the occurrence of Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata; CPB) and chemical control of the pest in conventional and organic potato crops were conducted in 2002-03 and 2005 in 3 localities of the Opole district (Poland). In 2005, the intensity of the occurrence of CPB was quite high, whereas in 2003 the pest was recorded sporadically. During the years of the research, a total of 16 chemical treatments were done in conventional potato crops and 10 with the use of suitable insecticides in organic ones. Taking into consideration the chemical control of CPB in 8 and 2 cases, the insecticides were applied when the pest population intensity was below economic threshold in conventional crops and organic ones, respectively.
