The number of bacteria and fungi colonizing kernels of chemically protected winter wheat cv. Tonacja was estimated. For this purpose, a field plot experiment was conducted in Warmia region of Poland. The number of epiphytic bacteria, Pseudomonas spp., yeast-like fungi and endophytic Alternaria alternata colonizing kernels was not dependent on the applied fungicides during the growing season. Fewer endophytic colonies of Fusarium spp. were obtained from the grain of protected plants in comparison with the samples of grain obtained from non-protected plants.
