Leaf miners from the family of Agromyzidae commonly occur in cereal crops in Poland. However, their harmfulness is not considered as very high. Locally they can cause losses of economic importance. Feeding larva damage leaves of winter wheat and barley reducing the yield parameters. No method concerning chemical control of the pest has been drawn up so far. The need of cereal crop protection against leaf miners is usually noticed too late for chemical treatments. Results of the research involved in plant protection integrated methods revealed that the best method of warning system for the pest chemical control was a monitoring of the number of adult individuals caught by a yellow table trap. Monitoring of cereal leaf miner flights in winter wheat crops was conducted in 2 localities of Wielkopolska district, Poland, in 2006-2008. Yellow traps were placed above the top of wheat during the vegetation period. Simultaneously, the number of wheat stems with damaged leaves by leaf miners was recorded. Diversified weather conditions during the course of the performed research considerably effected the dynamics of cereal leaf miner flight. The most common species were Chromatomyia nigra, C. fuscula and Poemyza superciliosa. Results of the research on cereal leaf miner flights as a decision making supportive system allowed the determination of the optimal date of chemical treatment against the pest in case of individual cereal fields.
