Effect of red canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea) water extracts on cucumber (Cucumis sativus) germination capacity.

The yearly red canary grass water extracts resulted in a 14.5% reduction in cucumber root length and 11.0% reduction in germination capacity. The biennial red canary grass water extracts resulted in a 30.0% reduction in root length and 20.0% reduction in germination capacity. The greatest inhibitory effect on cucumber seeds was observed after the application of R-2b solution (25 g fresh matter and 100 ml distilled water prepared from biennial red canary grass).
