Application of mixtures of fungicides with different mechanisms of action for the control of apple scab.

The efficacy of various fungicides against apple scab (Venturia inaequalis) was evaluated in Poland during 2002 (1400 g propineb, 350 g dithianon, 75 g trifloxystrobin, 75 g trifloxystrobin + 1050 g propineb, and 100 g kresoxim-methyl + 210 g dithianon a.i./ha), 2003 (1520 g captan, 1000 g tolylfluanid, 75 g trifloxystrobin, 60 g trifloxystrobin + 900 g captan, and 63 g trifloxystrobin + 625 g tolylfluanid a.i./ha) and 2004 (1400 g propineb, 1000 g tolylfluanid, 75 g trifloxystrobin, 75 g trifloxystrobin + 1050 g propineb, and 63 g trifloxystrobin + 625 g tolylfluanid a.i./ha). The fungicide mixtures were applied as protective measures up to 2 weeks after flowering. All mixtures were highly effective (approximately 100% control) against apple scab on leaves and fruits, and were on a par or superior to fungicides applied singly..
