Weed infestation variability of the new winter wheat cultivars depending on the tillage system

The aim of this work is the analysis of weed infestation variability in relation to the level of intensity of soil cultivation. Experiments were carried out from 2008 untill 2010 in the area of Jelcz-Laskowice community on the good rye complex. The following experimental factors were investigated: I factor - tillage system: a) conventional tillage, b) direct seeding, c) zero-tillage; II factor - winter wheat cultivars: a) Muszelka, b) Ostka Strzelecka, c) Kohelia, d) Satyna. Rape was a forecrop. Theanalysis of weed infestation variability was carried out with the aid of log-linear analysis and correspondence. Based on that analysis it could be claimed that Veronica persica and Viola arvensis were dominating weeds. However, Elymus repens and Anthemis arvensis were present in smaller amounts per surface regardless of the cultivar and tillage system. Veronica persica, Viola arvensis, Stellaria media and Apera spica-venti were present in higher abundance when direct sowing was applied in comparison tothe other tillage systems. Competitive ability of cultivars is largely dependent on the tillage system. Satyna cultivar limited the investigated weed species at higher degree than other winter wheat cultivars when direct sowing and ploughing were applied. However, when zero-tillage was applied, weed infestation of Satyna cultivar was the highest.
