The efficacy of coating seeds in protection of oilseed rape against slugs (Pulmonata: Arionidae).

Preliminary studies of the activity of different chemicals, used as seed coating, were conducted in laboratory conditions. Their effectiveness in reducing damage to oilseed rape seedlings caused by slugs Arion lusitanicus was examined. Oilseed rape seeds were coated using laboratory seed coater - Satec Concept ML 200. It was shown that among tested seed coatings the most effective were: methiokarb, abamectin and Oxafun T 75 DS/WS (carboxin+thiuram). The mentioned above active substances show a deterrent activity against slugs A. lusitanicus, and consequently reduce slug grazing and damage to oilseed rape plants.
