Unknown specimen of Potyviridae isolated from tall oat-grass.

Biological and serological tests as well as preliminary molecular research showed that studied virus was probably a new specimen of the genus Tritimovirus (family Potyviridae) and tall oatgrass (Arrhenatherum elatius) was found as natural reservoir. The presence of the virus was confirmed by natural infection of tall oatgrass and wheat. The virus was mechanically transmitted to oats, wheat, tall oatgrass, Apera spica-venti and Bromus mollis [Bromus hordeaceus], whereas it did not infect barley, triticale, millet, maize and other 31 species of grasses and 38 studied species of dicots.
