New endangerment of agricultural crops by soil pests

During the last years, the importance of soil pests is increased in Polish agriculture. The most important are Melolonthidae (Scarabaeidae), Elateridae, Agrotinae, Bibio spp. and Zabrus tenebrioides. In 2005 near Rzeszow in the southwestern part of Poland, the first occurrence of a quarantine pest, Diabrotica virgifera virgifera, has been recorded. The most important reasons of the increasing of economical importance of the mentioned species are simplification in soil cultivation, introduction of monocultures and agroclimatical changes.
