second thoughts: Workshop Evaluations

Winter is the primary season for surveyors' conferences. Two thirds of them sponsored by the state societies are held during the first three months of the year--when the weather in a large part of the country is least conducive to field work. There is no better time than the beginning of this season to muse about something conference goers eagerly anticipate: filling out workshop evaluations. They can hardly wait for the forms to be handed out at the end of each workshop, when they already have one foot out the door or at least their mind on the dining hall or the bar. To their credit, they fill them out--almost without exception--earnestly.
