The mitochondrial genotyping was done in Taenia solium, of porcine origin, T hydatigena of caprine origin and T taeniaeformis isolated from black rats (Rattus rattus). By comparison of punctuation codons of ATP dehydrogenase subunit6 (atp6), Indian Taenia species could not be differentiated from common sheep strain of Echinococcus granulosus. But T. solium isolated from non descriptive black pigs could be clustered into Asian isolate by partial fragment of cytochrome oxidase subunitI (coxl) while conservative substitution was seen only at one position. Comparison of sequence of NADH dehydrogenase subunitI (nadhl), the same Indian isolates was also indistinguishable from Asian isolates as described earlier. Based upon synonymous and non synonymous substitution, T taeniaeformis of Rattus rattus origin could be differentiated from T taeniaeformis of Apodermus sylvaticus origin. This type of change was discussed in terms of positive selection for antigen coding gene and also for eukaryotes residing in different climates.
