PARTICULARITIES OF THE BACTERIAL COMMUNITIES FROM THE ROMANIAN COASTAL WATERS

The aim of paper is to outlook the major characters of bacterial populations from the Romanian coastal waters. The results are based by a series of studies carried out during 1996-2000 in a region of the Romanian seaside located between Mangalia and Navodari. The temporal distribution of bacterial density had a typical pattern for temperate waters showing minimal values in winter and maximal values in summer. The composition of bacterial populations showed large seasonal variability caused not only by the temperature dynamics but also by qualitative and quantitative changes in organic matter. Another feature of the bacterial communities dynamics is represented by large spatial variability of taxonomical structure, physiological traits and enzymatic activities due to the land and anthropogenic influence.
