More than two decades have passed since an independent review of practices by the US EPA revealed that confdential business information (CBI) claims, asserted by industry to shield information about chemicals from disclosure to the public, “are far in excess of what is needed to protect true trade secrets”. Over time, report after report has confrmed that chemical frms assert unwarranted confdentiality claims.
