Modernisation of Existing fertilizer plant

Urea is a major nitrogenous fertilizer which is widely used by farmers, in last 3 decades the demand as well as supply of urea has increased many folds in spite of its production being highly capital & energy intensive. Since the cost of construction of Greenfield or Brownfield urea projects has reached such great heights that entrepreneurs are forced to shelve the idea of setting up new projects. The only option left to meet the demand of additional urea is to modernize the existing Ammonia/Urea Plants by revamp & retrofits for enhanced capacities as well as reduction in specific energy consumption to rein in the production cost.
