I recall the jokes last December about not worrying about completing work assignments, exercising or eating right because the world was going to end. The Mayans, that grand pre-Columbian civilization based principally in what is southern Mexico today, were known for many innovations; their calendar being one. That calendar predicted our worldly existence would cease on Dec. 12, 2012. Oh well. Last time I checked, I was still breathing.
