Recently I was discussing with our Chief Editor - Mr. Sureshji Kadam whether we have covered Polymer Technology adequately through some articles when he suggested to me that as all Synthetic Polymers are derived from one or more basic Polymer Budding block called Monomers and with a Jew exceptions most Monomers are products of the Petrochemical Industry, when the Natural Gas or Crude Oil is subjected to a series of reactions to produce the desired Monomers like Ethylene, Propylene, Isobutylene, Butadiene, Styrene and many more, so it will be appropriate to put this article in the Oil & Natural Gas Issue. We are confident the reader will find the Article quite interesting as it also deals with the History of Rubber and Rubber like materials. In fact there is not a single Plant wherein Rubber in either moulded or extruded form is not used on the Process Equipments like Seals, Beading, Mountings, Anti - Vibration Pads, etc.
