According to a Federal Reserve pressrelease dated August 15, 2014, industrialproduction increased 0.4% in July for its sixthconsecutive monthly increase. Manufacturingoutput grew by 1% in July which was thelargest increase since February of this year.Production of motor vehicles was up 10.1%leading the way while output in the rest of themanufacturing sector rose by 0.4%. Whilethis may be more appropriately placed in thestandard pipe or structural tubing section ofthis Report, the Federal Reserve alsoreported that while production of constructionsupplies moved up 0.8% in July and despitegains made for the last several years,production levels of these products remained15% below the pre-recession peak.
