Validation of Neohydatothrips samayunkur (Kudo) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) for a thrips damaging marigolds (Tagetes spp.).

Following an examination of two paratypes of Neohydatothrips samayunkur labelled with different collection data than the paratype and specimens collected from marigolds in Hawaii and Australia, the author concludes that the marigold specimens are not conspecific with N. pseudoannulipes. Therefore, Hydatothrips samayunkur is revalidataed (revised status) and is further redesignated as Neohydatothrips samayunkur (new combination).
